Thomas Nelson Inc, Dec 11, 2012 - 400 pages
Live Second: 365 Ways to Make Jesus First is a daily
devotional that is a bit different then your typical devotional book you might
be used to, it was very refreshing to read. The introduction basically spells
out how exactly to use this devotional, as mentioned it’s not your typical
devotional. It’s broken up into 12 sessions dealing with issues we Christians
face, from growing to leading, following to committing, this book offers
everyday short readings that are deep, inspiring, and even life changing to the
reader.
I love that this devotional does not try to replace the
bible. There are verses written within it, but it’s not enough to just have 2
or 3 verses on a page it also tells the reader to “Read the whole passage in
Isaiah 53:1-12” (as an example). The passage is not written on the page, which
I truly enjoy, because it eliminate a really dense and overwhelmingly filled
page of the day’s devotional and instead leaves a clear short and to the point
devotional on the page, it also makes the reader OPEN their own bible and read. Love it.
This is definitely the most interactive devotional I have
ever read. It includes QR codes to watch videos, links, hashtags to share
thoughts with other readers on daily devotionals, prayers, and questions for
the reader to answer for themselves.
I love this devotional, if you’re strapped for time it will
not take up too much of it, and if you have plenty of time you can use this
book to its maximum advantage. It’s great for young and old and absolutely
wonderfully organized. Thank you Thomas Nelson for providing me with a copy in
exchange for an honest review of the book.
